HOW IS IT ALREADY THANKSGIVING 11/27/2017

Image
( Here's a pic from a while ago, I promise I have pics, but I keep forgetting to bring my camera, orrrr I have to get film developed before I can actually send pics. But this is proof that as of a month ago, I was still alive and well. ) Well, I left my house in July. December starts  on Friday . I've got 15 days left in Massena. This upcoming transfer will get us into 2018. I still remember what I ordered from Fiiz on the  19th of July , I also remember the last item I sold at both Biker's Edge and Loyal Cycle. So don't let anyone tell you that time doesn't fly. Because holy cow it's cruisin. Literally the first week that has actually seemed to drag on, was this week. There's an odd feeling around the holidays as a missionary. Time kinda slows down, and you think about home a little more. It's odd, we go around teaching how important families are, then we get back to the apartment and the most we can do is write a letter that they probably won...

Winter is here.... 11/13/2017

Well, winter has finally decided to come, all at once. We went to bed on Saturday night, and it was like 40 degrees, when we woke up, there was about 4" of snow, and it was rather cold out. And right now it's about 20 degrees and snowing, and it will probably remain that way until about April. So, my first New York winter has officially begun, and I have the opportunity to get the NY snow, and the Canadian temperatures. Tracting is already getting even more awesome...      On a kind of unrelated note, I reached my 4 month mark yesterday. Which is rather crazy. I feel like I left my house maybe 3 weeks ago, yet I'm already 1/6 done. In about 3 weeks I'll be moving out of our humble abode in Massena, and getting transferred somewhere clear down at the south of the mission. So that will be exciting, I love the North Country, but this transfer has been rather slow... Like, we've tracted upwards of 17 streets, probably close to 150 houses, and picked up 2...

SOMETHING BIG IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK 11/13/2017

You read it in the subject line, this week is going to be a big week. After almost 2.5 fairly slow transfers, we have an event happening that will both raise our spirits, and bring us hope. Last night we received a call from the Zone Leaders, and they delivered some pretty big news. Long story short, we will be traveling to Potsdam at 6:15 am Wednesday,   where we will meet the Zone Leaders, and join them in attending the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Potsdam Taco Bell. District Leader and companion go on exchange with the Zone Leaders, and we have been truly blessed in the scheduling of our blitz. We will begin our day with some tacos to fuel the work.       I apologize if you were expecting that to be a baptism announcement, or something along those lines. We are working hard every single day to make it so we can indeed have a baptism, but it's hard. "Finding" in the North Country is rough. Over the last two days we've knocked on cl...

New Transfer. New Comp. 11/6/2017

Image
Hello friends. It's been quite a week. Got a new comp, completed "training", became "senior companion" and the designated driver. I've been in Massena for 3 months now. That alone is kinda crazy, I'm no longer a greenie (or a "golden" as Pres. Rogers calls them.) Allegedly I'm a fully trained, fully functioning, and responsible missionary. However, there was no graduation, nor was there a final test. So I guess I'll just fly under the radar until someone realizes that like 4 months ago I was probably laying on the couch asking my Mom "I'm bored, what can I do?"        Tuesday / Wednesday - As you know it was Halloween, and we are not allowed to proselyte on Halloween. So, Elder Davis and I went around and visited a lot of the members, and he said goodbye to all of them, and took pictures. That night we had a St. Patrick's Day party at DD's house. Yes we are aware it was Halloween, but DD is Irish, so for eve...

TRANSFERS. 10/30/2017

Hello everybody! This coming week is going to be a crazy one! We got transfer calls last night, and I finally know the name of my new comp. Elder Tanner Hill will be joining me in Massena on Wednesday, and Elder Davis will be heading east to Watertown. It seems pretty crazy that it's already been 12 weeks, and I'm moving on to a second comp... Pray for me, or at least Elder Hill, that he'll be able to deal with me       This week has been a bit odd. The last week of transfers, when one of you knows you're leaving, is always hard. We met with and taught pretty much all of the investigators I've mentioned before, and Elder Davis has said goodbye to them, taken pictures, etc. I'm hardcore preparing to take over the area, reviewing/updating the teaching records, writing the next transfer's schedule down, making sure I've got all my addresses and phone #'s down right, etc. I'm super excited, slightly nervous, and a little sad to see Elder Davis go ...

Halfway to halfway to halfway. 10/23/2017

Hello friends. It's been a solid week. I was able to do some lovely yardwork at Chuck and Joyce's house while in Malone on exchange. They're a super awesome old couple who go to the branch in Malone, I think I talked about them in an email a while back. Anyways, helping them prep their yard for winter reminded how grateful I am to be able share the opportunity of doing all the yardwork back home, with my sisters. Such a tender mercy.      On Thursday-Friday I was on exchange with Elder Little. He's in the Malone East area with Elder Hill. Elder Hill came out with me, and Little was a transfer before. So, between the two of them, they have minimal experience. And sadly, this was very apparent as we were on exchange. I pointed out to Elder Little that we needed gas, and reminded him several times. So, when the car started beeping and freaking out because it had no gas, we luckily were like 100 yards from a gas station. So we were able to get gas before a complet...

3 Months In. 10/16/2017

Whew. Crazy week. I was out of town all week... I know that sounds weird, but when your companion is a DL, you're on exchanges a lot. On Tuesday both of us went on Blitz with the ZL's (that means we both went to Potsdam and went and worked with one of the ZL's) The Blitz was honestly a party. We started out helping one of their investigators move. Good thing the ZL's have a truck, because we moved a LOT of furniture. It was all completely covered in cat hair, naturally. So that was fun. After that, we went to an Asian Buffet for lunch. That was probably risky, but hey, best Chinese food I'd had for months. After lunch we went out to their Branch President's house to help with some work in the garden. His wife is in the hospital, and they have a HUGE garden that needed a lot of harvesting. So we spent a lot of time picking pumpkins and sorting tomatoes. We also got into a fairly serious game of tomato baseball, using a fence post as a bat. It was probably the mos...
