Elder Lindberg's Babysitting and Life Coaching 4/9/2018
Alright bros, it's been rough. There ain't no way around it. I'm not saying I had much experience living away from home when I got out here. But like, I knew how to do things like shop, unlock doors, make a bed, light a stove, scrape car windows, use a doorbell, etc. Just basic everyday things, so I thought. But as I now have the opportunity to see, there are in fact many people people who do not have the luxury of having experienced these things. So now, as a trainer, am I having to focus the majority of my time, energy, and patience, teaching these things before I can get a chance to have a good "12 Week" discussion or practice lesson. Don't get me wrong, Elder Chan is very sincere and nice, but the poor kid is 5'9" 108 lbs of curious, lost, confused, and silent missionary. This is a rather stark contrast to my 6'2" 200 lbs of nonstop talking and just doing things. So this whole training thing has been a struggle. I'm learning a lot, and (I hope) my patience is growing, but wowza, I would never have guessed this is what I'd be doing out here. To add to the fun, we HAVENT FOUND A NEW INVESTIGATOR IN UPWARDS OF 3 WEEKS. PEOPLE IN NEW YORK ARE NOT VERY TALKATIVE, INTERESTED, NOR WILLING TO OPEN THEIR DOORS WHEN IT IS FREAKING STILL SNOWING IN APRIL.
Alright, so it's been a rather slow week. I've been sick, Elder Chan has been sick, Elder Schindler has been sick, and Elder Saylor has been sick. So that's all the Elders in my District. However. We did have a once in a lifetime opportunity on Saturday. We were able to sit front row and watch Tim Tebow play his first game for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. I waved, and got a wave back. And we made eye contact about 7 times, so you can say we're best friends.
Honestly, I'm afraid I haven't much else to report this week. It's been sooooooooooooooooo slow, so if you're reading this, pray Spring comes, we find some gators, and I figure out how to help Elder Chan better.
TALK TO YA NEXT WEEK FROM MY MISSION SMARTPHONE. #SOBLESSED
