Spring has sprung, and we got our glow in the dark scriptures 4/16/2018

First of all, my parents are currently in New York City. This is the first and probably last time we will be in the same state until July of next year. They're 180 miles away, I've biked further than that in less than a day. So that's interesting.
Second, this week was the big week. The one we've been waiting for since November. We finally got smartphones. And wow, after all the hype, all the District Meetings, all the waiting, the Zone Conferences, we got them set up. And if we're honest, they aren't as much "smartphones" as they are glow in the dark scriptures. Yes they do a lot of awesome things, and help with Facebook to contact people, the "Phone Tiwi" makes it so we can't even get LDS.org to load. They area book planner app is actually way cool, but we've it ourselves quite a project to get all of our paper records inputted into the system. So that will be a process. And with Elder Chan's smartphone abilities now publicly known, I'm aware that I will be doing the majority of the work, while answering his many questions about how to turn his phone on.... But I've got 6 weeks to teach him everything I know about how to work an Android. Which is nothing bc I have never used one in my life. 😂😅
The other most exciting/disappointing thing that happened this week was helping the VanAusdall's move. We spent a lot of time loading, rearranging, and praying that everything would fit into that truck. It seemed impossible, but as soon as the missionaries left, they seemed to be much more productive. Maybe we talk too much... But to commemorate this monumental occasion, they took us to an incredible steakhouse where I got a steak covered in white truffle butter and scallops, a bowl made of chocolate full of sorbet, and I also ate 2 orchids, which I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be able to eat, but they were on the plate so why not. The next night, after we finalized the moving, we all went to Red Robin. Where I shotgunned 6 strawberry lemonades. So their move was a powerful experience, but they will be missed.
On Friday we walked 2.1 miles to an appointment with Ben. He texted us to set it up. We confirmed a time. We texted him we were heading over. He said OK. We showed up. And he was not there and would not answer texts or calls. Soooo we had a long walk back after that wonderful experience. We swung by Chad's house and he happened to be pulling in and invited us over on Saturday to help him dig a hole and install a bathroom in his basement. We were all for that, because service clothes are the best. So we show up Saturday afternoon ready to work, and they had us operating concrete drills, chisels, pickaxes, shovels, and all manner of manly tools. My testosterone doubled that day, probably. We dug 30 inches into concrete, gravel, and riverbed. Then we had an awesome BBQ, and Antonio, Chad's brother in law, who was helping us, said he'd love to come to church. We talked to him throughout the day and answered questions and became friends. So that was awesome.
On Sunday Elder Chan spoke. I told him that I would help answer questions he had while preparing the talk, but I would not write any of it. I was a little nervous, as he didn't ask any questions, but he did a great job. And during sacrament, we sat behind the Warcup family. They have two little boys, so I hooked them up with smarties and granola bars throughout the meeting, and after sacrament ended, they invited us over for dinner tonight. And Brother Warcup found out I was from good old Kaysville, and asked if I knew Craig Fisher. I just so happened to play for Craig's son's football team for years, and knew their family very well, so they're pumped to have us over and talk all about President Fisher (he was Bro Warcup's mission president.) After church ended, I passed out about 40 things of smarties to every kid I saw, and they were all pumped. The secret to getting members to like you is to be homies with their kids. So Sunday afternoon we also had a lesson with the Schmidt's, Bro Schmidt comes to basketball on Thursdays, and occasionally drives us. So we set up an appt to have his family pose as investigators and it went great.
So this week was eventful. Sort of. Glow in the dark scriptures, hole digging, and (freaking finally) some member support. And even a new investigator. As Progy would say, it was powerful.

Thanks for all your support everyone. Talk to you next week!

(also for those of you (mother) who plan on saying my hair is too long, I'm getting it cut tonight, and President didn't even say anything about it at the meeting on Thursday. So ha.)
