I'm running out of good subject lines. 10/9/2017

As Celine Dion says, "another week has gone by." And it has flown. Again. This Tuesday we had Zone Conference, and we were taught by Elder Ence, an area 70 from St.George. When we took our break for lunched, we were surprised with the wonderful opportunity to get a Flu shot, right in the middle of the meeting. An important note about meetings is the fact that we have to wear long sleeve shirts and suits. So, when it came time for the flu shot, people started rolling up their sleeves. However, my massive bi's and tri's weren't gonna let that happen. So we had all the Sisters go first, then I was the last one to get my shot, and I was standing there with my tie loose, shirt half off and half untucked, trying to cover my garments while I waited to get my shot. I hope that is the last time I end up shirtless at a Zone Conference. We also had car inspections, and Elder Davis and I are proud to announce that we didn't win... We have the oldest car, and it's been around the block a time or two... However, thanks to a "Black Ice" air freshener, we were complimented on how good it smelled. So that was good.
On Wednesday we had our usual service at Salvation Army. That's honestly one of the funnest parts of the week. The people there are a lot of fun, and always have questions for us. And they all have funny stories. After Salvation Army we taught DD a lesson on language, and in exchange he took us to dinner. That kind of the deal, we have to teach a lesson in order to get dinner. Fair trade in my eyes. After dinner we knocked a lot of doors, and had a lot of people look at us, then shut the door and walk away. Classic response... I think it's so weird how people can be so rude without even talking to us. Oh well, there's a couple good ones out there.
We picked up an awesome new investigator this week. Well, we stole him from the Sisters. He's single, so they can't go into his house, so they sometimes teach him on the porch. But we tracted into him, without realizing we were in the Sister's area. He invited us in, gave us some pulled pork, then told us that he's an ex-Marine, and if we ever need to get somewhere safe, his house is the place. He's got lots of security cameras, and lots of guns. So now we have a safe house, so that's awesome. He also complimented me on my Breitling, and showed me his Tag Heuer. Sadly I had to admit mine was a fake, however, his was not... So this dude is already pretty dang cool. He also told us that if we were going to commit him to do something or read something, he would do it, but he wouldn't tell us about it unless we do what he commits us to do. So we've got him reading a chapter of Alma, and he's got us asking Brother Hann if he remembers him. He had Brother Hann as a teacher in 5th grade. Soooo this guy, Robert, is probably the coolest guy, and an awesome investigator who is already progressing, and we'll have him moving right along now that we can actually go inside and teach him.
So, with Robert being the coolest new investigator this week, I'll talk about Tom. The worst "investigator" of the week. We tracted into his house on Monday, and he was watching Monday Night Football, and working on his computer. He said that it wasn't a good time, but if we came back on Thursday at 6:00, that would be perfect. So we thought that was promising, he set up his own appointment. When we went back to his house, his wife answered the door, and was very nice, we asked if Tom was there (we knew he was, they have a huge front window and we could see him on the couch), she turned around and told him we were there. And he said "tell them I'm not home, and won't be for a while." Sooooooo Tom, who was originally promising and seemed interested, is no longer on our list of Potential Investigators. Dang it.
It's been a good week, lots of tracting, not a lot of new investigators. President Rogers told us at Zone Conference that the North Country was the hardest area for finding investigators. By far. But when we do find an investigator, they are much better at keeping commitments. Which is very true. So, we will press on, and find those roses among thorns...
I've decided to add a fun segment to email. This one is merely for entertainment. Given that I'm 2,000 miles away, and the past is in the past, I'm gonna share something that my parents probably don't know about, and see how it goes down. I think it'll be very enjoyable. I can't get grounded anymore either, so that's a huge bonus. Anyways, Mom and Dad, regarding my interactions with Law Enforcement. I was only pulled over a total of 5 times. 1 of which was for speeding, which you know about. No ticket. One of which was for driving with my underglow on, you also know about this one. The other 3 were all for various combinations of "illegal" lights and lack of doors. The most recent incident was the Saturday night before I left, with Ashley and Riley. I've never been so scared. I thought I was going to prison. But still no ticket, so I remained ticket free all my years of driving. So, now you know. Please don't ground me.
Thanks for all the support and love. Please keep sending letters, I waste a lot of steps walking out to an empty mailbox every day. Love you all!
